Call for papers: "Smart House Oriented Community"

For a special issue of the International Journal of Sustainable Society.

Smart house involves the control and automation of lighting, heating, ventilation, security and home appliances. The systematic integration of switches and sensors of smart house has facilitated more artificially intelligent life style, further requiring the spatial reconfiguration of residential community. The smart house revolution not only influences family needs and human behaviours, but also promotes the improvement of architectural design and community planning. The connection between smart house, ICT control centre and community on-demand service would impact all aspects of daily life, including disaster prevention, business and shopping, transportation, energy, and health care. The smart house oriented community should be investigated from multiple disciplines and perspectives. These include sustainability, new technology and new life style, systematic configuration, smart house evaluation framework, and design guidelines.

This special issue will focus on smart house and smart community. The objective is to provide an insight on the co-benefit framework of smart house prototype, architectural design standards, relevant policies and regulations, new technology, and urban modelling from multidisciplinary viewpoints. Qualitative and quantitative, theoretical studies and project-based case studies are encouraged.

Suitable topics include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Planning policies for smart community
  • Smart house design guidelines and standards
