Call for papers: "Cyber Manufacturing – Emerging Frontiers in Sensing, Modelling and Control"

For a special issue of the International Journal of Rapid Manufacturing.

The aim of this special issue is to present recent research advancements in cyber manufacturing. The 2016 Whitehouse report on advanced manufacturing emphasises the burgeoning need for fundamental research in next-generation technologies to spur manufacturing innovation. An information transparent cyber manufacturing paradigm is a key component of this thrust. Novel sensing, analytics, physical process modelling, part measurement and materials testing strategies, among other things, are consequential milestones that must be achieved to fully capitalise the revolutionary potential of cyber manufacturing.

Work in all areas of advanced manufacturing and materials processing including, but not limited to, the following will be considered: additive manufacturing; non-traditional manufacturing; subtractive, formative, nano manufacturing; robotics; pharmaceutical manufacturing; electronics manufacturing; precision machining; bio-manufacturing.

Specific subject areas include
  • Sensor fusion and data analytics
  • Process control
  • Functional integrity measurement and testing, and reliability analysis
  • Non-destructive testing and evaluation
  • Process-machine interaction modelling and variability reduction
  • Cause-effect analysis and defect mitigation strategies
  • Manufacturing security and cloud manufacturing
  • Cobotics and cooperative robotics
  • Simulation and modelling
  • Optimisation
  • Design of experiment strategies and human factors
  • Human-machine interfaces
  • Virtual manufacturing
  • Green manufacturing
